This building which is now known as Manchester One was completed in 1962 and at that time its height of 80m made it one of the tallest buildings in the UK. As part of a £2m re-development of the 21 floors a new reception was created.
Blinds were required to reduce heat and light gain in this highly glazed reception space.
Pentel proposed the Astralux 3000 heavy duty roller blind system with just three blinds required to shade over 50 square metres of curtain walling.
The blinds used a highly stable and durable screen cloth to reduce heat and light gain but still preserve an external view.
The roller blinds were motorised and operated by a wireless switch behind the reception area.
