Cheadle Catholic Infant School, Greater Manchester

The hall at this infant school had sloping glazing to one elevation of the pitched roof. Whilst this long rooflight provided light to the space, particularly during the winter, in the summer excessive heat and light gains were experienced.

So a simple solution was sought to provide shade when required and given the height of the installation a motorised system was required.

Pentel supplied and fitted Astralux 5000 tensioned roof blind system. This clever blind system will work at any angle so is ideal for sloping roof glazing.

The Astralux 5000 system can be manufactured to very large sizes so for this project the entire run of glazing could be covered by just six motorised blinds.

The blinds were fitted with a FR screen fabric to help control heat and light gain and were controlled by a radio controlled handset.
